Now Let's Go Out and Play

For most of you, it's no big secret that I am not going to win any housewife awards. Or housekeeping awards. Which would include dusting awards. Or dishes awards. Or laundry. Or shower-cleaning. Or cooking. Or anything else that involves keeping anything tidy, for that matter. At any given moment, there may be dishes in my sink, flowing out to the counter. Dirty clothes strewn through the living room (and pretty much anywhere else someone from the family has walked today!) There might be dirty diapers laying next to where I changed them (because I'm too tired/lazy to throw them out one at a time). And a plethora of toys and books spread across every inch of floor to let you know that we HAVE been doing something today.

A visit to my house has a prerequisite of at least a 10 minute phone call!! This gives me enough time to scrape the surface and at least make the carpet show through the stuff again! And if you drop in on me, you can bet I'll try to keep you out of the kitchen!!! :)

I found this poem on one of my favorite places to lurk and read--Rocks in My Dryer--and I love it!

I have always said that all I ever wanted to be was a mommy--I don't remember ever mentioning all that housekeeping stuff!! :)

Now Let's Go Out and Play

Some houses try to hide that fact
That children shelter there.
Ours boasts of it quite openly--
The signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges on the doors.
I should apologize, I guess,
For toys strewn on the floor.
But I sat down with the children
And we played and laughed and read.
And if the bathtub doesn't shine
Their eyes will shine instead.
For when, at times, I'm forced to choose
The one job or the other,
I want to have a lovely house,
But first I'll be a mother.

Not as innocent...

AS THEY LOOK!!!

Lawson and Jordan have had so much fun playing with Avery! They look so sweet playing in the playroom--I was sure that I could get some stuff done because they were being such angels!!!

But, apparently, playing only lasts so long!!! Jordan decided to go for a climb! Luckily I came in time to break her fall!

And it looks like 2 2year-olds don't think make-up is just for a pretty face! Too much to resist!

Eyes aren't the only thing that an eyeliner pencil is good for!!! :)

Jordan can say Bye Bye!

Jordan learned how to say Bye Bye last weekend!! I waited to post b/c I wanted to post the other summer pics first...Hopefully this little video will work...Turn the volume up!!

On another note...Poor baby was sick all weekend with fever, snot, fussiness, sleeplessness, and no appetite...not to mention that I think she's cutting FIVE teeth at one time!!! She seems to be on the verge of yet another ear infection, so Little Girlie will be having tubes put into her ears Friday...She's had five ear infections in less than 7 months, and all the doctors we talk to say it really should be done. We don't want to risk any damage to her hearing and speech. Sooo....please pray for that this week-especially Friday at 7:15am.

More summer pics

Happy Birthday Joshua and Abby Kate!!!

We spent the fourth in Nashville at Sunny's parents' house for the kiddos' 3rd birthday party. We had so much fun meeting their family, eating the yummy food, seeing the twins enjoy their cake and gifts and swimming in the beautiful pool!!! We were so thankful that we were invited to spend the day with such good friends!

I spent the whole day taking SO many pics, and what I've posted is what I have to show for it!! Frustrating to take 200 pics, but rewarding to get a few priceless ones!!! This was Jordan's first time to really swim (we've been to Alisha's pool, but she just sat on the side and cried). This is why there are more of her than Lawson.

Here are my beautiful children...Jordan will be 11 months old in 3 days. Lawson will be 3 in December.

He thinks he's something, doesn't he!!!

I like this swimming stuff!!!

I think I'm such a big girl!!! Like my new bikini???

We don't have many family pics...Jason got this cute one for us!

Big Bro helping out!

Some good friends gave us a TON of hand-me-downs...Since my son apparently thinks he is now a southern boy (see previous post), I thought he should dress the part! I guess he was feeling particularly "modelish" though, b/c instead of the usual struggle to get a cute pic, he was ALL SMILES!!

My Son Just Crushed My...

little yankee heart!!!!

We spent the morning at the fountains and the park to feed the ducks with several friends. After a couple of fun-filled hours, we were all heading to our cars. As I was getting Jordan into her carseat, I look over to Lawson just in time to see him throw his hand up in a hearty wave and holler "Bye, y'all!"

Sigh.

Summer Fun

This is Jordan's first ponytai!

Lawson went to VBS at another congregation this week. He LOVED it!
He looked like such a big boy sitting there by himself.

This is his little class walking back to their seat after class.
I put an arrow over Lawson's head.
They all had treasure chests that were almost as big as they were.
It was SO CUTE!

Treasure chests!!

These were thumbnails, so they're tiny...sorry.
After VBS, the Bybees met us at the park. We fed the ducks.
Here are Lawson and Abby Kate.

It was SO hot. Here's Jordan hanging out in the stroller.

Yummy! Popsicles!

Next, we went to the fountain park downtown. The boys LOVED it!!
Lawson loved getting wet...but not splashed in the face.
I guess he had to lay the smack down on that fountain after it got him!

Two little studs!
